Arsenal and Leicester City fans have discussed reports claiming Yuri Tielemans is of interest to the Emirates Stadium side.
Goal claimed that Arsenal representatives had discussed with Tielemans’ entourage at the London club Colney base a possible transfer.
Tielemans is out of contract at the end of next season which means his value to City is diminishing.
A move certainly won’t happen this month but the summer is when the player will have a decision to make with the 24-year-old who is also believed to be attracting interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
Tielemans has impressed for City since going on permanent loan from AS Monaco three years ago in 2019 for around £40million.
But his contract problem continues to worry City supporters.
Speaking to Sky Sports in September, Tielemans said: “There isn’t really an update. I’m open to anything.
“The transfer market has just closed. I just try to keep as many options as possible.
“As long as I’m here, I’m going to give everything to the club, I’ve done it before, but I’m going to give even more.
“The contract situation is just something that happens in football. It’s just a normal situation. Talks are going on. I’m not saying I’m going to sign, but I’m not saying I’m not going to sign. “
Now City fans have had their say on the claims.
‘Just when you think the world can’t become a stranger,’ one said while another added, ‘Goodbye Yuri.’
“It’s a bit like the Jamie Vardy and James Maddison sagas now it’s Yuri,” said a third City fan.
“I can see him leaving if I’m being honest but again we don’t normally let player contracts run out either it puts us in a tough spot,” another added while a fifth supporter de City said: “If he doesn’t agree to a new contract by the summer then he will leave.”
Arsenal supporters also expressed their feelings.
“Tielemans won’t leave Leicester for us,” said one.
“If we get Tielemans I’ll be over the moon,” added another while a third fan said: “Leicester won’t sell us.”
“I don’t see that happening, but I’d be happy to be wrong,” added another.
“Tielemans is for me, if we manage to sign him, he’s a huge signing in my eyes,” said another Arsenal fan.
