CorSera: Milan set to face Liverpool at sold-out San Siro

AC Milan would be in line for a massive January transfer boost should they qualify for the Europa League Round of 16, according to a report.

Milan come into the match against Liverpool after wins over Genoa and Salernitana knowing they await a very tough test. As il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports, the Rossoneri know what they need to reach the round of 16 of the competition: Pioli’s side will first have to beat Liverpool at the San Siro tomorrow night and then wait for good news from Portugal where the game between Porto and Atletico Madrid is scheduled.

In case of a draw, Milan will definitely go through, otherwise we have to hope for a La Liga victory, but then the goal difference will become decisive. The result against Liverpool is not only important on a sporting level, but also on an economic level because making the knockout stages of the Champions League would bring in an additional 15 million euros.

The newspaper says that money could then be invested in the January market to sign a defender in place of the injured Simon Kjaer, although for now the focus is on giving fans a night to remember in a sold-out San Siro.
