Dr. Bawumia’s claim on the number of airports built by NPP is false – Isaac Adongo

The minority argues that Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s assertion that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has built more airports in Ghana than any administration is factually inaccurate.

Vice President Mahamadu, at the Hogbetsotso Za festival in Anlo, Volta region, on Saturday touted the development projects undertaken by the government.

Among others, Dr. Bawumia mentioned that the government led by Akufo-Addo has built the most airports in the history of the country.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Finance Committee Deputy Member Isaac Adongo said the airports the NPP is seeking to claim are in fact projects launched by the former John Mahama administration.

According to him, the only airport built by the NPP government is Takoradi Airport.

“He [Dr Bawumia] was there in Hogbetotso saying they built more airports than anyone in this world. Which airport? ….If you come and continue my work, do you become better than me? So if you had built Terminal 3, what would you have said? He asked.

Addressing President Akufo-Addo’s comment on the lack of a haircut, he said the President may not have understood what a haircut means.

Explaining a ‘haircut’, he said: ‘Any time there is a contractual obligation to someone in terms of a loan and you plead with that person to change their position in the original contract to something new is a haircut.”

“If I gave you 100 Ghanaian cedis and you said when I come I will get 60 Ghanaian cedis which is a haircut or he thinks haircut is a business in a barber shop?” he questioned.
