Anwar El Ghazi is unlikely to get much playing time for Everton before the end of the season, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The £9m-rated striker was loaned out by Aston Villa in January but Rafael Benitez was sacked three days later, leading to El Ghazi playing a minor role under the new regime.

What is the latest news about El Ghazi?

El Ghazi was struggling to find minutes under Steven Gerrard, so it was no big surprise that he was loaned out in January.

But with Everton having so many wide players at their disposal, his arrival on Merseyside has raised some eyebrows.

Frank Lampard already has Anthony Gordon, Richarlison, Alex Iwobi, Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend in his squad which explains why El Ghazi has hardly had a chance to prove himself.

In the seven Premier League games he has been available for, he has only made two substitute appearances, totaling 11 minutes, with the winger being benched on five occasions.

Even when Everton were chasing a late equalizer against Wolves on Sunday, Lampard preferred to make just two substitutes in the game rather than introduce El Ghazi late.

With FA Cup ineligible El Ghazi having featured earlier in the competition for Aston Villa, Brown expects the recent theme to continue for the remainder of his loan spell at Goodison Park.

What did Brown say about El Ghazi?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I can’t see him playing many games until the end of the season because he has so many people ahead of him in the pecking order.”

Is El Ghazi likely to have a chance with Lampard?

El Ghazi have spent the majority of recent seasons playing on the left, although he is unlikely to get many opportunities with Richarlison being one of their best and most important players.

The 26-year-old has played on the other flank more than 150 times in his career, but Anthony Gordon is the man currently in that role, and the 21-year-old is clearly already a Lampard favorite having started each of his eight games in all competitions.

Therefore, with time running out for El Ghazi to make an impression on Lampard, his chances of getting minutes are unlikely to improve before he returns to Aston Villa after the campaign’s climax.
