Celtic enjoyed a day in the sun as they clinch their 10th Premiership title in the past 11 years. The league was also sealed in the previous game, when Ange Postecoglou’s side earned a 1-1 draw at Tannadice Park against Dundee United. So, there was no pressure in this game. But the Hoops signed off in style with a 6-0 win over Motherwell in front of an electric Parkhead crowd.
It brings down the curtain on what has been a rollercoaster season for the club. It had started with very little hope of success, with the disastrous 2020/21 campaign as the backdrop.
Postecoglou’s side were knocked out early in the Champions League qualifiers and lost three of their first six Premiership games. Things weren’t looking up for the club, to say the least. But then a switch flipped somewhere, they started chaining results.
While Europe was a disappointment, Celtic have not lost a single league game since then on their way to Premiership triumph, also winning the Scottish League Cup and making it through to the group stage of the Champions League to look forward to. Already, some eyes will start to move towards the summer transfer window.
Reporter thinks Celtic will be desperate to sign a player this summer
Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes Celtic will be desperate to secure a deal for Cameron Carter-Vickers, although he also believes they will also have other options in case they are unable to sign the defender . As reported by GIVEMESPORT, he said:
“He was really impressive at Celtic, integrated right into the team under Ange Postecoglou and was among the best players at the club.
“I think they will be desperate to get this deal done, but I’m sure Celtic’s scouting and recruitment team have other options on the table if they are unable to sign the United States international. .”
Signing Carter-Vickers could be one of the most important things Celtic need to do this summer. The United States international has been immense since arriving on loan last summer from Tottenham Hotspur.
The defense was seen as a weak point for Celtic last season, but the presence of Carter-Vickers has certainly improved things at the back for the club.
Celtic are believed to have an option to buy included in the deal, although there have been rumors that the deal could be as high as £10m with add-ons. Also, it will be interesting to see if Carter-Vickers wants to stay or not.
