Dirk Kuyt “certainly sure” Steven Gerrard will lead Liverpool

Former Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt believes he is “certainly sure” that Steven Gerrard will one day be in the Anfield dugout.

Gerrard has been with Rangers’ Scottish Premiership for three years, guiding them to a long-awaited league title last season.

Since Gerrard stepped into football’s senior management there has been talk of one day taking over the management of his childhood club.

The 41-year-old left Anfield as a player in 2015 to join LA Galaxy and retired a year later, and would return to Merseyside to coach the club’s Under-18s in 2017.

Kuyt, who has made the move to football management himself, most recently being in charge of Feyenoord’s Under-19s before leaving in 2020.

The former Netherlands international, who has enjoyed success alongside Gerrard as a player at Liverpool, believes his former team-mate will take over at Anfield one day in the future.
