Philippe Coutinho’s Barcelona position confirmed amid recent transfer links
Barcelona boss Xavi has insisted that former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho will have the opportunity to fight for his future.
The Brazilian’s stay at Camp Nou did not go entirely as planned, having left Anfield to move to Spain on a £ 142million contract in 2018.
Since then Coutinho has had a loan spell with Bayern Munich and has not been a regular holder at Barca.
Since his loan spell with Bayern, rumors have continued to flow as to whether he would remain a Barcelona player any longer.
Many clubs have been linked with his services, with Saudi firm Newcastle United the latest of those credited with apparent interest in the Brazilian.
Xavi’s appointment as Barcelona manager has inevitably led to even more questions as to whether Coutinho has a future at Camp Nou.
However, speaking ahead of his first Barca managerial game against Espanyol, Xavi insisted Coutinho was fully part of his plans for the future.
