Journalist Pete o’rourke has revealed that Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is a “big fan” of Rangers striker Ryan Kent amid reports he could join his former employer at the Premier League squad.
The highly rated 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Villa Park in recent weeks after Gerrard traded his life for the Scottish champions for a chance to succeed in the Midlands.
Would Kent be a good signing?
Kent was one of the English tactician’s first recruits after arriving at Ibrox in the summer of 2018.
After arriving on an initial 12-month loan deal, the fairly impressive-paced winger impressed the Gers enough to spend a lot of money to secure his services permanently at the end of the campaign.
Since then, the former Liverpool academy graduate has grown steadily during his time north of the border.
He scored 13 goals and produced 15 assists in 52 appearances last season, playing a pivotal role as the Glasgow giants won their first top-tier title in 10 years.

A hamstring injury hampered Kent’s season this time around, but the talent of the former England Under-20 international is clear to all.
The eye-catching displays of creative talent have seen Gerrard openly admit his admiration for him in the past, and O’Rourke believes it was a mutually beneficial partnership.
What did O’Rourke say about Kent?
Kent may have sent Gerrard back to his first major piece of silverware as a manager, but the transfer expert claims the 41-year-old also made the most of his star man.
Leeds is FRAUDULENT! Hear why on The Football Terrace …
O’Rourke told GiveMeSport: “Steven Gerrard is a huge fan of him, he spoke a lot about him during his time with the Rangers.
“And Gerrard made the most of Ryan Kent, it’s fair to say, while he was in charge of Rangers as well.”
Do Aston Villa need another striker?
With Villa currently offering options like Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia, Bertrand Traore and Anwar El Ghazi, another striker may not be at the top of Gerrard’s wishlist this winter.
However, the aforementioned four players have just three Premier League goals and five assists between them throughout 2021/22, highlighting why the £ 12.6million-valued Kent would be on the club’s radar.
Whether Villa director of football Johan Lange makes a formal offer for the Rangers ace remains to be seen, but it is surely a move that would have Gerrard’s blessing.
