Neco Williams on World Cup qualification ‘dream come true’

A Wrexham FOOTBALL star has hailed Wales’ first World Cup qualification in 64 years as a “dream come true”.

Wales beat Ukraine 1-0 in Cardiff thanks to a deflected free-kick from Gareth Bale on Sunday June 5.

This means that Qatar 2022 now awaits Rob Page’s side, where they will face the United States, Iran and former English rivals in the group stage.

Wing-back Neco Williams played the majority of that historic win over Ukraine before being substituted late.

Neco, who hails from Cefn Mawr, has played for EFL Championship champions Fulham this season on loan from Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has made 14 league appearances, scoring twice.

For Wales, he has become a regular starter, earning 20 caps so far and, again, scoring two goals.

He celebrated his qualification in Qatar with a well-deserved bottle of Heineken and posed for a photo with his teammate and scorer of that all-important goal, Gareth Bale.

Neco has now returned to Champions League finalists Liverpool ahead of the 22/23 season – but is rumored to be moving away from Anfield.

Many clubs are ready to pursue his signing if that is the case, especially after another superb display against Ukraine last night.
