Alex McLeish thinks it’s a concern for Rangers that so many players are nearing the end of their contracts.
Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos are big names in the Gers who only have deals until 2023, and there are others.
Their former boss is concerned about this and feels it has to be on the minds of the players.
But he points out that, like with Connor Goldson, sometimes we don’t see any movement until the very last minute.
“I think it will always be there in the back of their minds,” McLeish told Football Insider.
“At the same time, they have to have that mentality and that professionalism that they have to put aside when it comes to action.
“It’s a little worrying when contracts are so close to finalisation. We’re all talking months ahead and that’s something Rangers have to deal with.
“Whether they feel the need to bring money and someone go for a big buck, Calvin Bassey, we talked about him. It also helps Giovanni bring in his players.
“The ones he deems to be of the highest quality, he won’t want to let them go.
“I’m sure the strategy won’t be to let the contract run out. I’m sure there will be many discussions in the days, weeks and months to come.
“Sometimes it can go straight to the wire, like we saw with Connor Goldson. It’s the little dilemma that puzzles the football world, especially Rangers fans.
