Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has claimed Arsenal will “probably” be playing Champions League football this season without Portugal defender Nuno Tavares.
Arsenal missed out on a top four spot on the final day of the Premier League campaign, with Spurs beating them to fourth and final Champions League spot.
The last time the Gunners featured in Europe’s elite club competition was in the 2016/17 season.
And Carragher says London would probably have finished in the top four had it not been for Tavares’ poor performance.

“Tavares was loaned out, I saw,” Carragher said.
“I think if they had a better left-back then you’d probably be in the top four now.
“I don’t like isolating a player, but I just think he cost you in some games. I remember that game at Crystal Palace last season, it was Monday Night Football and I said to the TV “he has to go out at half time” I think he placed Xhaka at left-back.
Meanwhile, Tavares has joined Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon on a season-long loan.
